Kids at Play Handbook
The Kids at Play handbook is designed to serve leaders working with children aged 6 to 12 and is used as an integral part of the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development training. The handbook focuses on children aged 6 to 12. It describes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children and explains how participants can create environments that foster healthy child development. It also provides practical tips on how to design and lead high quality activities for children that both you and they will enjoy.
YMCA Discovery Booklet
The YMCA Discovery booklet is given to participants registered in the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development training. The booklet explores “Middle Childhood’ which is associated with rapid progress in all developmental and skill areas. It provides facts and insight into the behaviors and activities that can be expected with each developmental stage and age group.
Reviewing Best Practices Tool
The Tool is a mandatory resource for the QUEST 1 training and is provided for participants in the QUEST 2 training. The Tool is part of the Best Practices Tool Kit. Do you have all the policies and procedures you need to support healthy child development in your organization? The Review of Best Practices Tool help to review policies and procedures related to safety, staff/volunteer relations, crisis management and other important areas.
Reviewing Best Practice Summary Score Sheet
The Score Sheet is a mandatory resource for the QUEST 1 training. The Score Sheet is part of the Best Practices Tool Kit. The Summary Score Sheet enables an organization to organize and interpret the information obtained in completing the Review of Best Practices Tool by determining the percentage of policies and procedures an organization has in place that support healthy child development.
Guide to Best Practices
The Guide to Best Practices is a mandatory resource for the QUEST 1 training. The Guide is part of the Best Practices Tool Kit. Do your recreation and sport policies and procedures minimize risk and maximize safety? If not, then you need the Guide to Best Practices! The Guide provides a place to begin, templates, helping in creating and implementing policies and procedures to support healthy child development in recreation and sport - a must-have for any organization that provides sport and recreation programs for children.

The Best Practices Tool Kit are mandatory resources to participate in the QUEST 1 training. Three great resources - one low price! The resources help to assess existing polices and write and implement new polices and procedures that support healthy child development. Each kit includes:

Supervisor Handbook
The Supervisor Handbook is given to participants registered in the Using the HIGH FIVE® QUEST (QUEST 2) training. The Handbook reinforces the principles of healthy child development and teaches a supervisor how to ensure the quality measures within in their own organization. It also provides exercises and tip[s to help supervisors improve the quality of programs in a sport and recreation setting.
Case Study Booklet
The Case Study booklet is given to participants registered in the Using the HIGH FIVE QUEST (QUEST 2) training. The booklet outlines several introductory case studies and exercises to practice and fine tune how to use the QUEST 2 Tool. It also provides specific tips on conducting a QUEST 2 assessment, developed by assessors who have extensive experience administering the tool in a variety of program settings.
Observing the Child’s Experience Tool
The Tool is provided to QUEST 2 workshop participants only. You can not purchase this resource separately. Observing the Child’s Experience is an observation tool that allows the practitioner to observe programs from the point of view of healthy child development.
Quick Scan Tool
The Quick Scan tool is provided to QUEST 2 workshop participants only and may be referred to as the QUEST 3. You can not purchase this resource separately. The Tool is a modified and much shorter version of the QUEST 2 resource, which was created to help identify those programs that require further attention. The practitioner can use the Quick Scan Tool to select which programs should be reviewed using QUEST 2 resource or those who have already been reviewed and need a follow up visit.
